About Us

MISSION

The mission of Ghana National Section is to propagate the mission of IOV World. The mission of IOV is to protect, preserve and promote all forms of Folk Art culture as elements of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH), to foster understanding and appreciation of Cultural diversity among all peoples, and thereby enhances the prospects for world peace.

IOV has been accredited by UNESCO as an Expertise centre for immaterial Cultural Heritage, and wishes to continue its accreditation through its operation.

IOV Ghana National Section may engage in all legal activities in order to accomplish its goals and objectives, including, but not limited to the following;

  • Organizing conferences, scientific colloquia, seminars, symposia and other meetings of its members and collaborators on topic of folk art and folk culture;
  • Organizing events, including exhibitions, festivals, craft fairs and cultural exchanges to increase awareness and appreciation of folk art and folk culture;
  • Creating programs to encourage the participation of youth , and cooperating with other competent and reputable NGO’s working in the same or complimentary areas in order to conserve resources and reduce duplication;
  • Establishing free education schools to help needy children out school.
HISTORY

The IOV- Ghana National section was incorporated under the laws of the Republic of Ghana in May , 2023, as a non – governmental, non – profit organisation by the Ghana National Section President ( Chair) Mr. Stephen Kwame Awuku, after delegating Anthony Gyan and Alfred Okoe Anum to represent his cultural troupe Power Africa Nyame Aye Awie Cultural Troupe LBG a registered member of IOV – World at the 11th WGA in Sharjah, UAE 2023
